We’re looking for an experienced Business Advisor & Tax Consultant to support our UK client base with strategic tax planning, compliance, and broader business advisory work.
You’ll act as a trusted advisor to small and mid-sized business owners, helping them structure their affairs efficiently, stay compliant with HMRC requirements, and make informed financial decisions as they grow.
This role blends technical tax expertise with commercial judgment. You’re not just filing returns — you’re helping clients understand what their numbers mean and, more importantly, what to do about them.
Advise clients on UK tax planning strategies, including entity structuring, VAT, Corporation Tax, and personal tax efficiency.
Review UK tax filings, including Self Assessment, Corporation Tax returns, and VAT returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with HMRC requirements.
Conduct entity structure reviews and recommend the most tax-efficient setup based on each client’s circumstances.
Identify tax-saving opportunities, including reliefs, allowances, and timing strategies, tailored to each client’s business.
Provide ongoing business advisory support covering financial planning, growth strategy, and operational guidance beyond pure tax matters.
Liaise directly with clients to explain complex tax and financial concepts in plain, actionable language.
Coordinate with internal bookkeeping and accounting teams to ensure advice aligns with each client’s actual financial position.
Stay current with UK tax law changes and proactively flag relevant updates for clients.
Support client onboarding by reviewing prior tax positions and identifying potential compliance gaps or risks.
ACA, ACCA, CTA, or equivalent UK tax/accounting qualification, or substantial demonstrable experience in lieu of a formal qualification.
10+ years of experience working with UK tax legislation, including:
Income Tax
Corporation Tax
VAT
Capital Gains Tax
Experience advising small business owners or entrepreneurial clients, rather than compliance-only experience.
Excellent client-facing communication skills, with the ability to translate technical tax matters into clear, practical guidance.
Strong analytical skills and sound commercial judgment.
Comfortable working independently within a remote, distributed team.
Experience with UK accounting and tax software such as Xero, QuickBooks Online, or similar platforms.
Experience with cross-border or US/UK tax considerations.
Familiarity with HMRC’s Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements.
Previous experience in a client-facing advisory or consultancy role, rather than purely in-house.
Exposure to AI-driven workflow tools for tax research or reporting efficiency.
Fully remote position with flexible working hours.
Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications.
Direct mentorship from our founder and leadership team.
Opportunity to grow into a senior advisory or client-facing leadership role as North Gravitas scales.
Exposure to a modern, tech-forward advisory practice spanning Tax, Assurance, Finance, and Digital Transformation.
